Identity theft protection has come a long way but only for those that use it. Did you know identify theft is the fastest growing crime in the US according to the FBI and you could easily be its next victim?

If you don’t want to become the next victim, simply answer these following questions correctly.

If you answer them all correctly, WTG! You already know what it takes to have 100% online identity theft protection. If you don’t answer them all correctly, you need to do a little more to “get in the know” so that a hacker doesn’t “get in the know” of your personal information.

3. How expensive is the software that hackers use to steal your online Identity, including your logins, passwords, emails, and sites that you visit? (0% = free, 100% = very expensive)

5. If you use a router with the most complex 128-bit encryption password, what percentage of identity theft protection do you have from online hackers?
6. If you went shopping or banking online while visiting an internet cafe or using the hotel internet service, how much does your current identity theft protection hide your online activities from hackers?

Identity theft protection won’t happen unless you take action. Here are the most common myths, demystified:

MYTH #1

I have McAfee, Norton, Windows firewall, or some other Internet security or

anti-virus program installed and up-to-date, so I’m safe.”

THE TRUTH IS

Those programs are good for what they do, but they don’t actually protect your wireless (or cabled) internet use. There are even a number of wireless “security” programs that I’ve seen that don’t actually secure your wireless data, they just prevent hackers from connecting to your computer over the wireless network.

The weakness with all of these programs is they only secure the data that is on your computer, but they have no way of protecting that information when your computer is transmitting.

Meaning:

  1. when you go to connect to the internet

  2. when you type in your user names and passwords

  3. when you fill out forms online

  4. when you key in your credit card information

  5. when you type in a search term to browse on Google, Yahoo, MSN etc.

  6. when you create your accounts in social networks

  7. and even when you land on any web page

The internet is always sending live, unprotected data.

Your data.

Yes, you do need a good firewall and anti-virus to keep your computer free from incoming harmful viruses and the like, but you also need to protect your information that is going out over the wireless networks you use.

MYTH #2

It takes a lot of expensive equipment to hack wireless networks.”

THE TRUTH IS

An old wireless laptop will do the job. The first laptop I used to test and break into our wireless networks (without my software and system in place) is now 10 years old and it still has more than enough power to break into any wireless network.

MYTH #3

It takes a lot of expensive software to hack into wireless networks.”

THE TRUTH IS

The software is a free download from the Internet. All you have to do is search for terms like “hacking wifi” on Google and you’ll find all the free software. The clowns that develop hacking tools even have symposium meets.

MYTH #4

You have to be super smart to be able to break into wireless networks.”

THE TRUTH IS

There is a certain element of truth in that, but it’s a half-truth. The truth is network security is very complicated and you do have to understand it at a very deep technical level in order to understand how to break wireless networking. And the hackers that make the tools have learned all the complications of wireless security. When hackers create a tool, they make the tool easy to use so someone without any technical knowledge can use them. And they thrive on helping others use their tools to break into wireless networks. They have complete online communities built around helping others break wireless networks.

MYTH #5

I set my password on my wireless network through my router, so I’m safe.”

THE TRUTH IS

All the security that comes on wireless routers can be broken with free downloadable tools so having a password set only gives a false sense of security.

MYTH #6

The hotel/café/shop where I get on the wireless network gave me a password, so I’m safe.”

THE TRUTH IS

The same password is given to everyone visiting the venue, so the hacker doesn’t even have to try to break into it. With the password they can see everything you do online without having to first break the security.

Hello Richard,

More often than not, I've observed that if something doesn't directly affect one of my readers or listeners five senses they tend to dismiss it as something that happens to the other guy. My interviews with Utah's Captain of ICAC-TF (Internet Crimes Against Children's – Task Force), Chief Deputy Attorney General, and Utah's Attorney General, bears this out – all too often you'll hear the victims comment "I never thought this would happen to me." I can tell you with certainty that the nefarious cybercriminals would be glad to see me buy into that scenario – to give up and stop trying to educate our readers and listeners of the importance of behavioral change, protecting their personal information and taking their computers out of the controlling hands of cybercriminals.

Richard's dedication the last twenty-two (22) years as a highly trained IT security professional, and more importantly as a father protecting his children: a catalyst in his developing the Wi-Fi security software. Wi-Fi security was not only for his children's safety, but for the safety of other children, their families, and business owners. Richard's efforts are truly commendable and a much needed global endeavor.

My involvement with db Security Inc., as an online security authority, has allowed me to be in a position to evaluate this powerful yet simple one-click Wi-Fi security software solution. Unfortunately, all too often, security is sacrificed for convenience; however, this is one of those rare times when security and convenience share top priority without the compromise of either. We are sharing this service with all our readers and listeners of CHWradio. I am pleased to give my personal and professional endorsement as a service of db Security Inc., and The CyberHood Watch partners.

Hi Richard, all I can say is thank you!

I was floored when I heard there was actually something that could protect my online purchasing. I work and shop =) online from home and never once did I feel confident about using my credit card online. And knowing too that a hacker can’t get my user names or passwords (I thought my Roboform that automatically filled that in for me was protecting me – but you proved me wrong) makes me feel like I can now use the internet without any worries. It’s just me.

Thanks again,

D Privensal

Hi Richard,

When you think about the possibility of someone stealing your bank user name and passwords, medical information, etc. just from sitting outside (or in) an internet cafe where you use the internet or they park close to your home and deliberately steal your information without your knowledge, is it any wonder that the number of identity thefts and fraud claims is sky rocketing?

As someone who is constantly being asked about keeping children, families, and online businesses secure, I have made it a point to search out and find products and services that are reliable and cost effective. You have made a product/service that provides and fulfills a much needed service for us as individuals to protect our identity, money, and safety.

Thanks, Bill Wardell
